Ashana Revolutionizes New Age Music With Her Unique Crystal Sound; Announces ‘Infinite Heart’ Release And Tour Dates

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) August 22, 2011

Weaving together soaring, angelic vocals and the celestial sound of crystal singing bowls, Ashana’s original sound is the forefront of an entirely new genre of healing music. She has received worldwide acclaim for her extraordinary blend of Western and ethnic instruments with the unique drone of the crystal singing bowls, along with mantra, chant and song, creating a harmonic fusion that provides the ultimate transcendent music for healing, relaxation and meditation.

Ashana’s new CD, ”The Infinite Heart,” has just been released and is already receiving rave reviews. This stunning and elegantly crafted work features sacred chant, mantra and song celebrating the divine feminine. Breaking new ground, Ashana blends her signature sound with Sanskrit and Sikh mantra, Tibetan and Native American chant, a song of devotion to the Virgin Guadalupe in Spanish, a hypnotic version of The Prayer of St. Francis, and an angelic choir of voices singing music inspired by 11th century mystic, Hildegaard von Bingen. From the first note, no one can escape the power of love emanating from every piece. This is, perhaps, Ashana’s finest work to date.

“The Infinite Heart” is the fourth collaboration between Ashana and world-renowned producer, Thomas Barquee (Snatam Kaur, Seal), whose masterful and sensitive arrangements weave Ashana’s pristine vocals and crystal singing bowls into an extraordinary sensory experience of musical prayer. Also featured are Hans Christian (cello), Dominic Breaux (woodwinds), Simone Sello (guitars), Lynn Gudmundsen (violin, viola), bansuri flute, esraj, sarod and percussion by some of India’s finest musicians; and Thomas Barquee on keyboards, bass and vocals.

Audiences are in for a one-of-a-kind experience as this exceptionally gifted artist is taking her music on the road this fall. Ashana, accompanied by 50 crystal singing bowls, will give concerts and offer her renowned Crystalline Activation Ceremony in over seven cities, starting in Kansas City, MO on September 9 & 10, 2011. Other cities include Albany, NY (9/16 & 9/19), Andover, MA (9/23 & 9/24), Eliot, ME (9/30 & 10/1), Freeport, ME (10/4 & 10/5), Meredith, NH (10/7-10/9)¸ Montclair, NJ (10/13). Tickets and full details for all dates are available on line at http://www.AshanaMusic.com and http://www.brownpapertickets.com.

Listeners the world over describe Ashana’s live music events as “ecstatic,” “profoundly healing,” “breathtakingly beautiful” and “indescribable joy.” Join Ashana for a magical evening of sacred chant, song, and mystical poetry accompanied by keyboards and vibrant world percussion. Ashana’s exquisite new renditions of sacred chant, mantra and song from the world’s traditions have the power to carry you literally to the angelic realms, transporting you to transcendent states of deep peace and inner healing on the gentlest waves of devotion and compassion.

Ashana’s “Crystalline Activation Ceremony for Profound Manifestation and Healing” is a powerful and highly interactive evening that opens a floodgate of divine energies, pouring tremendous light into the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual bodies. The result is a deep clearing of limited, contracted energetic patterns and realignment with your innate soul blueprint and connection with your Higher Self. Profoundly relaxing and peaceful, this sound meditation and candlelight ceremony is a time to create and hold powerful intentions in sacred space accompanied by the resonant healing vibrations of over 50 master alchemy crystal singing bowls.

There is a package discount for both events. Ashana is available for private sound healing and one-on-one personal crystalline activation session which can be scheduled through her website http://www.AshanaMusic.com.

Classically trained, with a degree in Voice from the prestigious Mannes College of Music in New York City, Ashana rose to the very top of the healing music genre with her first three CD recordings, “All Is Forgiven,” “Jewels of Silence,” and “Beloved.” Her intuitive vocal improvisations and masterful crystal bowl playing are featured in the documentary film “The Sound You Feel: Vibrations of Healing,” released by Beyond Words. Ashana travels across the US, Canada and abroad offering concerts, crystalline activations and sound healing workshops.

“Music is a blessing, a prayer, and a healing when it comes deeply from the heart,” says Ashana. “Music can transport us, lift us to the place where we gently let go and open to receive, reflect and remember the Love we truly Are. And as we begin to rest in this Love, our world is transformed. We see beauty in everything. And Heaven becomes fully present in every moment, right here on Earth.”

Chaminade College Preparatory Opens New Performing Arts Building

Chaminade College Preparatory Opens New Performing Arts Building

West Hills, CA (PRWEB) March 21, 2012

The Tutor Family Center for the Performing Arts, Chaminade College Preparatory’s new home for creativity, is now open.

“In the world of educational institutions, this is simply a ‘game changer,’” said Chaminade President, Jim Adams.

The $ 9.7 million state-of-the art facility houses teaching and rehearsal space for drama, dance, band and choral students. The drama room doubles as a black box theater; while the dance room features a sprung, slip-resistant floor; and the band and choir rooms each have acoustic treatments. The 23,175 square-foot building also features a 365-seat theater, a permanent stage with 46 lines for backdrops, curtains, lights, etc. and an integrated lighting and sound system. Backstage, there is a scene building workshop, storage rooms for props and costumes, as well as dressing rooms and office space.

The $ 9.7 million needed for completion of the project was funded through the successful $ 6 million capital campaign, Lighting the Way, the Campaign for Chaminade, along with cash reserves. Despite a challenging economic climate, Chaminade’s largest campaign successfully reached its goal thanks to generous donors, including Ronald Tutor, who provided the leadership gift which made ground breaking and initial construction possible.

With a new and permanent home for the performing arts on campus, Chaminade firmly demonstrates the high priority it places on creativity. Adams says, “When we started this campaign our case for support focused on creativity and the value it brings to the educational process. The indispensible value it brings to our students as they move into a world that changes not by the day, but by the moment.” Chaminade College Preparatory encourages students to foster their imagination, envision new possibilities and probabilities, and find their inspiration.

The inaugural production in the Tutor Family Center of the Performing Arts, “Fiddler on the Roof,” opened on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. Directed by Yvette Bishop, additional performances are set for March 17-18 and March 23-25.

Continuing through May 2012, Chaminade has an impressive lineup of performances, including:

March 16-18 Fiddler on the Roof

March 20 Spring Sing

March 23-25 Fiddler on the Roof

April 4 Tenebrae Lenten production

May 4-6 Dance Concert

May 11-12 Dance Concert

May 18 Small Ensemble Concert

Chaminade College Preparatory is a coeducational Catholic school in the Marianist tradition, serving students in grades 6-12, with a mission to form morally aware and academically capable people to be outstanding contributors to the future. Founded in 1952, Chaminade operates a middle school campus in Chatsworth, and a high school campus in West Hills.

Stella Cabeca Story Part 7

I kept the little house and helped him get his own place.  Once he was gone I started taking in my family letting them live with me till they got on their feet. My sisters Wendy and Olga, then my brother Charles and his wife Irene and their daughter, my only niece at that time Angela.  They stayed till they saved up enough money to buy their own house. Then finally my mum begged me to let my older brother Raphael come and stay which I never wanted to do as he caused me a lot of pain and misery as a child for many years. But he was having mental and depression issues and we were worried about him so I said I would take him.

Shortly after I let him move in my mum asked me to go on holiday with her to Miami Beach Florida. This was the destination in the window of every travel agency and Laker airlines were flying direct from Manchester to Miami, for very cheap price. Mum said it would do me good to get away from Jim as I was missing him and still in love with him and the stress of having my brother with me. She thought it would be a good idea to get away and be in the warm weather in Florida. besides this my mum wanted to show off and tell everyone she was going to Miami and had not one friend to travel with and did not want to go alone. She was at this time separated from Stan though they still were running a guest house business together and lived a few doors away from each other, my mum was out living the single life and in the bar every night.
Anyway she booked a package deal all inclusive trips with Freddie Laker Airlines from Manchester to Miami direct 5 night’s stay at the Carrolton Hotel Miami Beach and two day bus excursion to Disney World Orlando. So here was my next step I can’t believe I am going to America, little did I know then this would be the biggest life changing trip, God Bless America!

Stella Cabeca Story Part 6

I am back in St Annes with my family so wonderful to be with my sisters and brothers; working and staying at home with my mum and her new husband Stanley, a retired income tax inspector and lifelong bachelor with no children.  My mum managed to snag him up and he married her.
I was working different jobs; I would like them for a while then get bored and move on to something else. I still did not know what I wanted to do when I grew up. Just to give you an idea in those years, I was a Texaco girl pumping gas, a window dresser, retail jewelry, clothing, and groceries store cashier. There was an Office workshop stint at Premium Bonds filing all day. I took as many ballroom classes and social dance as I could and tried to learn the guitar, during this time.

Then I got a job working in a Council home for the elderly and I loved it .Started out as a n attendant bathing, feeding and general care of elderly bed patients and worked my way up in a short time to assistant matron at age 22.

I met my first husband Jim Shenton, tall, dark, handsome, and charming guy, who I fell madly in love with though he was 9 years my senior, previously married and had children. We bought a little house in Black pool and I got a job close to my house in a bigger nursing home for the blind. I loved my job and loved taking care of the elderly.

I was strict with my staff and devoted to my resident’s, we had our own mortuary and in those day’s we let people die peacefully in our home not in the hospital whenever possible so we pretty much did everything we could for them to have dignity and peace in passing. I had a hard time with this as I would get very attached to my residents and they became my family so this was a sad part of the job for me. This did take a toll on me after a while as I could not be detached as some of the staff was able to do.
My husband, Jim was a great guy he did a lot to try to make me happy.  He even took ballroom dancing with me and was really quite good at it even though his snooker team mates made fun of him.  He did try to dance to make me happy, but unfortunately he had a gambling habit that destroyed our marriage. The lies and the hiding gambling debts finally ended the marriage and we separated, on good terms and me with a broken heart.

Stella Cabeca Story part 5

I spent the time between age 16 and 18 in and around Blackpool and St Annes; spending time with my sisters and brother, who had now moved from Ashton-Under-Lyne to St Annes. First staying with Auntie Minnie and Margaret and later moving in to own house. I had my own flat with a couple of my friends and went from job to job trying to make enough money to live. I did product promotions in retail stores for a while, was a demonstrator of novelty items such as the ream clean brush that picked up anything from crumbs to nails in one sweep and the non-slip trays that were coated with a film of plastic to stop the items such as plates and silverware from sliding around when you carried them. I was good at this as I put on a show and gathered a crowd around my booth and would do a live demo of the product. This was a salary based on commissions so was tough, even though, I was selling a lot.  Sometimes the boss would not pay me and once I was thrown out of the store by the police because my boss had not paid the rent for the booth in the store. I even did a few gigs singing in a local pub and was always looking for ways to make a living but did not really know what I wanted to do. All I was sure of was that I wanted to dance and be around music and musicians every chance I got, even though that meant underage drinking and hanging out sometimes in the wrong places.
One day I got a letter from my baby brother who had gone to stay with my Dad, who was now a cook on board the fishing trawlers in a place called Hull. Hull is in Yorkshire England and is where the trawlers go out for 3 to 6 weeks fishing in the Icelandic ocean in freezing cold waters and very rough seas. But this allowed my father to live and function as a full blown alcoholic and codeine addict. My brother was desperately unhappy and needed help so I boarded the train in January and went to Hull, it was a freezing cold journey and I still did not have a warm coat.  I shivered all the way and arrived in the dead of night to the flat they were renting, only to find my father passed out drunk. My brother sitting there with no electricity or food, he cried like a baby when he saw me and clung to me like he would never let go.
We hid from the landlord and chopped up the furniture to make a fire my Dad was broke and would not have money till he got another ship, so I went to look for a job and got my last commission check from my Christmas sales, where I had sold the non-slip trays in Bentalls Department Store in Kingston on Thames London over Christmas. Thank goodness I got that money and was able to move to another place as we were literally on the street after being evicted. Needless to say my brother could not cope with my Dad and once I was there sorting things out he decided to go back home to St Annes.  I was glad that he could go I knew he would be better off there.

Now here I was in Hull and my Dad coming and going on the fishing trawlers gone for weeks and home drunk and crazy for a week or 10 days then back to the ship. A life of hell, I had a good job that I really liked as a cashier in the canteen of a government training center. Other than my job, I had no life, no friends of my own age, no music, no dancing, and was trapped in a dysfunctional relationship with my Dad. Every time I wanted to leave he would threaten to commit suicide and I really thought he would do it and felt trapped. I wanted to leave but was afraid he would die if I left. I could not date or have any friends, he would scare them away and was destroying my spirit. I hit rock bottom and had a nervous breakdown.
I was 18 years old and woke up in a hospital my wrists bandaged up and in the bed next to me a very pretty young woman was ranting and raving. Her screams of pain and anguish of her life, told for hours in the darkness of the night. I listened to her words and felt her pain and realized that I did not want to be her. I had so much more to give and so much more positive outlook on life. So much more hope for the future. I thought about how I love life, how I feel when the music plays and I can move to the beat, it is a feeling like no other, some people never experience that, they don’t love it the way we do.
After my evaluation with the psychiatrist I decided he was crazy, I ran out of there as fast as I could and as I ran up the long driveway to the huge iron gates and breathed the fresh air and smelt the flowers in the morning air I realized I wanted to live and really live; see the world and here music for the rest of my life. There would be no turning back, I would leave my Dad and Hull far behind and go to live my life and take care of myself.  Thankful for the gifts I had been given; my love of music; my love of people and my ability to make friends. I learn new skills and absorb knowledge. I wanted to travel to see the world and see all the places I had read about in books.

And the story continues…

Working the City of Clarksville, Tennessee

I am lucky to have a great Boss, who allowed me to take a PTO day, today. Thanks Elaine…

I spent the majority of the day traversing the City of Clarksville, Tennessee.  International Line Dance Flyer and business cards in hand, I worked my way from Ajax Senior Center to the YMCA.  I have a tendency to be a stubborn Missouri mule with a single mindset to accomplish an objective. Currently, that objective is to establish at least one line dance class of my own in Clarksville.

Although I did not finalize a host for a class today, I did get my name is out there and my goal is known. The Senior Center has a Tuesday night class taught by a physical therapist from Ft. Campbell, I will meet with her in March and see if we can work together at the center.  The proceeds for this class go to help the center with operating cost. So this would be a great way to give back to the community.

Melissa at the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department was encouraging.  They currently do not have a program but she thought it was a great opportunity for the 2012 calendar. She was in budget discussions this week and would discuss with her department. She stated she would have one of the staff contact me in within the next two weeks to discuss the possible opportunity.

The YMCA was more receptive today, especially since I informed them at present, I am not interested in being compensated but looking to establish myself here in Clarksville.  This time I got a business card and a promise that my information would be given to Amanda, the Executive Program Director.  So I will see if I get a call back from Amanda or this Missouri Mule will be making a call next week.

The Rainbo Roller Rink is still a possibility but not until summer. They have a Rhumba class and do special projects for Special Olympics and feel they just don’t have the space to start a Line Dance Class at this time. They would be interested after school is out and advised that if they could get a feel for the type of response they would get from hosting a Dance Class, then it could be a summer program. I will put this information on LineDanceNews.com in the next week to get the word out.

Over all I feel good about the day’s activities. I will continue to work on researching other locations to investigate for possible host locations for a dance class.  The one accomplishment for the day is I am not a registered voter in the Great State of Tennessee.  Till Next time… LB

Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Hosts Mayoral Arts Forum

Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Hosts Mayoral Arts Forum

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 12, 2011

Yerba Buena Center for the Arts played host to the Mayoral Arts Forum 2011: State of the Arts in San Francisco on Tuesday, August 23, 2011. Presented by San Francisco’s art community, the forum was used to educate political candidates and the community about what the arts community does and what the public can do to help. Over 500 guests gathered at the Novellus Theater at YBCA, one of the premier event spaces in San Francisco. Attendees of the free event were able to meet San Francisco’s mayoral candidates, hear their arts platforms, and discuss the impact of the arts on the City’s education programs, economy and the incredibly diverse community. The event was moderated by Michael Krasny, Ph.D., host of KQED’s award-winning radio program Forum.

The Novellus Theater was crowded with enthusiastic arts supporters as Krasny asked questions about the candidate’s stances on arts funding, arts programs in schools, revitalizing the blighted mid-Market Street area and more. The candidates agreed about the importance of the arts, although their funding plans differed. Attendees cheered for a larger portion of San Francisco’s hotel tax to be designated to arts funding, ensuring that money from the City will be given to schools for arts education, in accordance with 2004’s Proposition H, which has not been consistently funded

The public also submitted questions for the candidates on sf.govfresh.com/sfopen2011 and by tweeting using the hashtag #sfmayor.

With San Francisco holding a mayoral election next November, the Mayoral Arts Forum 2011 was a unique opportunity to hear directly from mayoral candidates about their positions on the arts and how they plan to support the arts community. Candidates attending included Jeff Adachi, Michela Alioto-Pier, John Avalos, David Chiu, Bevan Dufty, Tony Hall, Dennis Herrera, Joanna Rees and interim mayor Ed Lee.

“We see Yerba Buena Center for the Arts as a gathering place for not only art, but also ideas,” said Charles Ward, YBCA’s senior director of external affairs. “So we are always very pleased to welcome the community to public discourse such as the Mayoral Arts Forum.”

There are over four million participants in the events, programs and services provided by San Francisco’s arts organizations each year, and more than 5,000 Bay Area residents work for local arts organizations. GK Elite Sportswear L.P. and Unite for Her are Pleased to Once Again Partner in BRAVADO, an Inspired Art Auction Fundraiser Dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness

GK Elite Sportswear L.P. and Unite for Her are Pleased to Once Again Partner in BRAVADO, an Inspired Art Auction Fundraiser Dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness

Reading, Pennsylvania (PRWEB) February 23, 2012

GK Elite Sportswear L.P., the world’s leading supplier of gymnastics apparel, and Unite for Her, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing breast cancer programs and initiatives, are pleased to once again partner in BRAVADO, an inspired art auction fundraiser dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness. Joining the event in support of the cause are the 2008 Olympic All-Around Champion, Nastia Liukin, the 2008 Olympic All-Around Silver medalist, Shawn Johnson, and the most decorated gymnast in US history, Shannon Miller.

These well-known gymnasts have shown their support for the cause by designing their very own unique GK sports bras to offer at a silent auction to raise funds for Unite for HER breast cancer programs and initiatives.

Nastia Liukin’s “Give Hope Another Try” design is decorated with the message of “There is Hope,” set off by two large gems and hot pink feathers. Two sparkly tulle bows accent the straps and two delicate pink ribbons, and more gems line the bottom. Johnson’s “Be Free” sports bra is covered in hopeful messages of grace, strength, peace, and joy with bright and colorful abstract hearts and flowers, with a bit of sparkle. Miller’s “Bold & Brave” design is dyed black and covered with circle and square shaped mirrored pieces of varying sizes. This provides a beautiful contrast to the iconic pink ribbon signifying breast cancer awareness.

Also contributing one-of-a-kind designs to BRAVADO are past and present champions and future Olympic hopefuls including Rebecca Bross (“Renewal”), Courtney Kupets (“Disco Diva”), Chellsie Memmel (“Packing Away Breast Cancer”), Katelyn Ohashi (“Cups of Gold”), Aly Raisman (“Hot Pink Warrior”), Bridget Sloan (“Girls Night Out”), and Jordyn Weiber (“Save the Cakes”).

In addition to the athletes, USA Gymnastics, TNT Gymnastics of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and Gymnastics Training Center (“GTC”) of Simsbury, Connecticut will participate in BRAVADO. USA Gymnastics presents their “Go Team USA!” design with their flag inspired logo and complimentary tiny blue stars. TNT’s “Freshly Squeezed” design is sure to be a crowd favorite with its bright lemon slices on a blue background with gingham pink ribbon and pink sparkly script. Finally, GTC’s “Bomb Breast Cancer” design is a beautiful pale pink color complete with a comical bomb and ribbon fuse.

Interested parties can view and bid on the decorated sports bras at the Pink Invitational gymnastics meet on February 24-26, 2012 at the Philadelphia Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

2012 will be the second year for GK Elite Sportswear’s partnership with Unite for HER. In addition to the co-sponsorship of BRAVADO, it also includes support of the 2012 Pink Invitational, an outreach gymnastics meet presented by Unite for HER.

2012 also marks the eighth year that GK has taken a stand against breast cancer. Kelly McKeown, Executive Vice President of Design and Corporate Relations for GK said, “With our large target audience of young, female athletes, GK realizes the unique opportunity and responsibility that we have to help raise awareness about breast cancer. It gives us great pride to partner once again with Unite for Her, and we eagerly look forward to another successful year at the Pink Invitational raising funds for the cause!”

“Words alone cannot express how grateful we are for the commitment GK has made over the years to women affected by breast cancer. They continue to amaze and inspire us with their dedication and unwavering support. Each year around this time, we create new ways to educate and empower our community of young women about breast cancer and our BRAVADO outreach is a symbol – “Pure LOVE and JOY.” Our celebrity designers and artists are truly inspiring, whose creativity is embraced by our gymnastics community directly impacting the healing programs and initiatives of Unite for HER. As you can see, we are not in this alone. We are blessed beyond words for the continuous support of GK,” said Unite for Her founder, President, and breast cancer survivor, Sue Weldon.
